Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. The wait for a Finding Nemo sequel is finally over.
Thats right! Disney•Pixar have emerged from the deep blue waters with the exciting news that the eagerly anticipated sequel of 2003’s Finding Nemo will be released in November 2015 entitled Finding Dory.
Ellen DeGeneres helped with the announcement on her talk show and has reaffirmed that she will be returning as the absent minded but very loveable titualar character, Dory. “I’m excited, that it’s finally happening; I read the script, it’s hilarious, it’s warm, it’s everything that you want it to be,” DeGeneres said.
Andrew Stanton, co director of Finding Nemo said the sequel will focus on reuniting Dory with her “loved ones” similarly to the family focus of Finding Nemo. “There is no Dory without Ellen, she won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world-not to mention the team here at Pixar,” Stanton said in a statement.
Finding Dory will be partially set along the California coastline and will see the return of favourite characters such as clownfish Nemo, his father Marlin and the Tank Gang.
Speculations of a sequel to Finding Nemo have been floating around since it became the largest grossing animated film, making an incredible $921 million dollars worldwide. Finding Nemo also won an Academy Award for Best Animated feature in 2004, in the same year it also received three other Oscar nominations.
Keep your eyes peeled here for more news as it develops!
